What is ARISE?
ARISE is a research project aimed at studying the effects of multi-level discrimination on cognitive performance and Alzheimer's Disease biomarkers within the Chinese American, Korean American, and Vietnamese American populations ages 65 years old or older. ARISE will evaluate risk/resilience factors that modify the effects of multi-level discrimination and cognitive decline.
What are biomarkers?
Biomarkers are measurable signs or indicators in the body that can reveal information about a person's health or the presence of a disease. ARISE aims to analyze levels of Alzheimer's Disease biomarkers among participants using their blood samples

ARISE is supported by the National Institute on Aging (R56-AG079510).
What are the benefits and risks of participating in ARISE?
There will be no direct benefit to you from participating in this study. However, your participation will help us better understand under-represented Asian American communities and improve our knowledge of Alzheimer's, related dementias, and discrimination research. There may be risks of feeling discomfort or stress from a blood draw, fasting prior to the blood draw, cognitive tests, and some survey questions. Also, you will be providing private information for the study, but our team will have security measures in place to ensure that your information is protected.

ARISE Privacy Statement
Safeguarding the privacy of our research participants is of paramount importance. Only selected researchers who have human subjects certification will have access to your data. Your research data will be securely stored in a physical and/or digital copies of data collection forms. Computer files are password protected and maintained on a secure firewall protected network of the UC San Francisco, REDCap. We are committed to upholding the highest standards of privacy and ethical conduct in all aspects of our research endeavors.

Where will the study take place?
The study will take place in-person at the UC Davis, UC San Francisco, UC Irvine, or community sites, or remotely as needed.
What can I expect if I decide to participate?
You will be asked to participate in one study visit, which will last 2 to 3 hours. The visit includes cognitive assessments, surveys, informed consent, and blood draw.
Can I withdraw from ARISE?
Yes, you can withdraw from ARISE at any time by contacting the recruiting site where you participated. The study team will help you withdraw your participation safely.
